Asansol – Girl kills self after ‘sexual harassment’

Asansol - In yet another horrible incident of sexual harassment, a Class VIII student, committed suicide on Monday failing to bear the humiliation her father had to take at a Shalishi Sabha (reconciliation council) after he protested against the alleged sexual harassment of her daughter by a group of youths.

The women was earlier harassed by a group of youths on her way to school. Upon the request of some ‘influential’ local the father-daughter duo had attended the Sabha twice but were humiliated, police said adding her father had lodged an FIR naming nine people.
